actions plan
Following the results from the Audit that was carried out by Gondwana, we have implemented a certain amount of procedures such as:
Including biodiversity in the environmental analysis and monitoring existing and future regulations;
Undertaking qualitative and quantitative inventories, of fauna and of flora in order to identify and to categorise the species that are present on the site – those that protected, endangered, rare, invasive, etc., and to determine a set of references that will enable us to monitor the improvement resulting from our policy;
Continuing our efforts to reduce the level of pollution that affects the ecosystems, especially in terms of the water we reject into nature;
Taking into consideration the biodiversity in our landscape development projects (for instance it was mentioned the creation of a walking trail around the site, however we preferred frozen agreement because the project is detrimental to biodiversity: the bank in question is home to families of beavers);
Adopting an ecological management that distinguishes between the species on the site (late mowing in places);
Developing partnerships with the local parties that are involved in preserving our natural heritage and the heritage of the Delta de la Dranse and the Léman Lake.
Some actions advocated by Gondwana, however, cannot be carried out, mainly for safety reasons.
Above all, PDL remains an industrial site, with its constraints and requirements relating especially to safety and image issues. Our goal is therefore be preservation; that is, efforts are taken to not degrade the biodiversity on-site, by eliminating any practices that could harm it.
